Students will fill out a diagnostic instrument before completing the
modules and fill out the same instrument after completing the modules. Formative
assessment of student information acquisition will include students' performances
on activities and suggested assignments. I will use the responses to the
summative instrument, my students' performances, and comments from other
instructors using the modules to make necessary adjustments.
Diagnostic/Summative Instrument
Instructions: These questions are about your abilities in interviews
in which you are the interviewer trying to gather information from an interviewee.
For each statement, please indicate whether you (5) strongly agree, (4)
somewhat agree, (3) are neutral, (2) somewhat disagree, or (1) strongly
disagree.
- I can articulate the goal of an interview so that others can easily understand
it.
- I can access information from a variety of sources (e.g., scholarly journals,
newspapers, websites) using a variety of tools (e.g., electronic databases,
paper indexes, the Internet).
- I can identify appropriate interviewees who will fulfill the purpose
of my interview.
- I can prepare and structure effective questions which will elicit the
information I need from interviewees.
- I can demonstrate an understanding of the ethical, legal and socio-political
issues surrounding a particular interview situation.
- I can effectively organize, integrate and edit information gathered from
interviews I conduct as well as incorporating information from other relevant
sources.
- I can identify the most effective method(s) for presenting the information
I have gathered from interviews and other relevant sources.
